DENVER - The University of Denver women's lacrosse team's exhibition game against Vanderbilt has been canceled due to inclement weather. The game was originally slated for Sunday, Feb. 5.
"We are disappointed that we had to cancel this game," head coach Liza Kelly said. "Unfortunately, when the field is covered with this much snow, playing on it was out of the question. We searched for alternative venues, but we could not secure one."
Following an exhibition at the Penn Play Day on Saturday, Feb. 11, the Pioneers will open the regular season at Johns Hopkins on Friday, Feb. 24.
The Pioneers return 16 players, including eight starters, from the 2011 squad that finished second in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation regular season. All-MPSF selections Secora, Kate Henrich (Lansdale, Pa.), Alex Befus (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Ashley Harman and Jenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) return to this year's lineup.
