No. 47 Rice Squeaks By Denver, 4-3

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 49 ranked Pioneer men's tennis team fell to No. 47 Rice, 4-3 on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Owls (12-5) captured the doubles point by claiming victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Rice also claimed three singles wins in the 4-3 win. Denver (9-8) saw its six-match winning streak come to an end.

Junior Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia), senior Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) and junior Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappein, Germany) each registered singles victories for the Pioneers. Bonin defeated Sam Garforth-Bles 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Weihs earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Christian Saravia at No. 2 singles. Vorkefeld defeated Peter Frank 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

Denver returns home on Tuesday, March 27 against San Diego State at the Gates Tennis Center at 2 p.m. MT.
