Box Score WASHINGTON - University of Denver junior Jenn Etzel (Bel Air, Md.) tallied four goals and two assists, leading the Pioneers to a 17-6 rout at George Washington on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Rachael Dillon (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) shattered her career-high with five points off four goals and an assist, while adding three ground balls and a caused turnover, and sophomore Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.) had a pair of goals and assists for the Pioneers (2-0).
"It was a great way to start the weekend," head coach Liza Kelly said. "Hannah was exceptional today, and we had a couple of strong performances off the bench. We are looking forward to our next opponent on Sunday."
After the Colonials (1-2) tied the game at 1-1, Dillon scored DU's second goal at the 17:44 mark in the first half to give Denver a one-goal lead, and the Pioneers cruised from there, outscoring GW 11-2 in the first half and extending the lead after the break.
Redshirt sophomore goalie Hannah Hook (Arnold, Md.) made a career-best 11 saves to earn the victory, and freshman Bailey Dunning (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made her collegiate debut.
The Pioneers finish up their road trip at Delaware on Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. MT, a game that will be available on Pioneer Vision.
Denver opens its home schedule on Saturday, March 2, when Louisville visits Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
