OMAHA - The University of Denver men's soccer team made its first ever trip to Omaha on Saturday night and didn't get the result they were hoping for. DU dropped their first ever Summit League match 3-1 to Omaha.
Denver fell into a hole early when the Mavericks scored the first goal by Nick Miller off a corner kick. Mavericks tacked on another goal by Jordan Gealy just two minutes later to make it 2-0. Omaha would take that lead into the break.
Omaha would score their third and final goal of the game early in the second half when Mark Moulton found the back of the net.
Fighting to avoid the shutout, Denver's Reid Hukari scored for the Pioneers in the 84th minute of the game. The goal is Hukari's second of the season.
Head coach Bobby Muuss will use this match to make his team better saying "We need to look at the video and prepare for next week at IUPUI. It was a tough match against a very gritty Omaha team."
The Pioneers travel Indianapolis next weekend to take on the Jaguars of IUPUI. Bobby Muuss said, "IUPUI is coming off a good result and will be a very tough opponent as we are both fighting to get into the Summit League Tournament".
