PEORIA, ILL. - The DU men's soccer team remains winless on the road after a gut-wrenching overtime defeat against Bradley Monday evening in Peoria, Ill.
Cody Lofgren's goal with just 90-seconds remaining in overtime gave Bradley (4-6-0) a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Pioneers (6-4-1) in a non-league matchup. Lofgren's shot from 18-yards out changed direction after being deflected by a defender and eluded goalkeeper Ryan Massey.
Teddy Mullin opened the scoring in the 23rd minute to give Denver a 1-0 advantage with assists courtesy of Reagan Dunk and Eric Kronenberg. Kronenberg went wide, found Dunk advancing who then crossed it to Mullin. The senior buried it into the back of the net from 8-yards out for his fourth goal of the season.
However, once again, DU could not hold onto a lead. Jacob Taylor evened things at one apiece with a goal, off a scramble in front of the net, in the 78th minute for Bradley from the Missouri Valley Conference.
"I thought the guys fought tonight and I think we were deserving of more than we got," said Pioneers head coach Bobby Muuss. "With that said, Bradley is a very difficult team to play against. I thought when we played our game we were very good but we allowed Bradley to impose their will on us late in the second half."
The Pioneers are now 0-4-1 away from home with one of those losses a neutral site match.
Denver will return home Friday night for a non-league match against the UIC Flames out of the Horizon League.
"It was a tough weekend for the guys," Muuss stated. "But I am confident we will reorganize and be ready to go against a very good and highly ranked team in UIC."
Kickoff is slated for 7 o'clock as Denver will seek their 13th consecutive win at CIBER Field.
