DENVER -
The University of Denver men's hockey team earned a 3-2 home win over the University of Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday night, extending their win streak to three in the process. Denver (8-3-0, 3-2-0 NCHC), has now won five of their last six games and is now 7-2-0 at Magness Arena this season.

Freshman goalie Tanner Jaillet (Red Deer, Alberta) picked up the second win of his young career between the pipes for Denver, turning aside 19 of the 21 shots sent his way by Wisconsin (0-8-0, 0-0-0-0 Big Ten) skaters on the night. At the other end of the ice, Joel Rumpel made 23 saves in a hard-fought road loss for the Badgers.

"That was a good game for us," said head coach Jim Montgomery. "We needed to be in a close game (after back-to-back blowout wins over CC and AFA). We needed to be in game where we didn't have our `A' game and had to find a way to manage a victory using our heads and our feet and that's what happened out there tonight."

The Pioneers struck first on Saturday as senior center Daniel Doremus (Aspen, Colo.) was credited with his third marker of 2014-15 after the puck pinballed its way across Wisconsin's goal line following a scramble in Badgers territory midway through the first period. Evan Janssen (Green Bay, Wis.) and Danton Heinen (Langley, British Columbia) both drew assists on what proved to be the lone goal of the opening frame.

Wisconsin tied the match up at one apiece 0:40 into period number two, with Joseph Labate converting on the power play for the visitors. The hosts retook the lead on a PP of their own as Quentin Shore (Denver, Colo.) pounced on a loose puck deep in enemy territory and rifled his fourth goal of the weekend past a sprawling Rumpel.

The Pioneers went up 3-1 midway through the third period when Heinen buried a spectacular feed from Doremus, who was knocked down next to Wisconsin's net but still managed to get a pass over to his linemate to generate an insurance marker for the home team. A wraparound goal by Adam Rockwood cut the Badgers' deficit to one a few minutes later, but that would be as close as Wisconsin would get as the home team ultimately took the decision by a 3-2 final.

Denver will next face Cornell on December 5 and 6 in Ithaca, NY prior to returning to Magness Arena for a pair of games against North Dakota on December 12 and 13.
