LUBBOCK, TEXAS - The University of Denver men’s tennis team was defeated by No.29 ranked Texas Tech 6-1 in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday.
Denver is 6-9 overall following the loss, while Texas Tech improves to 11-5.
Pioneer doubles teams of No. 42 ranked Henry Craig (Murrieta, Calif.) and Alex Gasson (Alton, U.K.) and Eric Marbach (Naperville, Ill.) and Yannik James (St. Georges, Grenada) battled through tough sets, but could not come away with wins. Maxime Hinnisdaels and Francisco Zambon beat Marbach and James 8-7 (7-5) in the No. 3 spot to clinch the doubles point for Texas Tech.
Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) netted the lone Denver singles win of the day. The senior was victorious over Hinnisdaels 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) in the No. 4 spot.
Denver men’s tennis will travel to Macomb, Ill., on Friday, April 4 to face Western Illinois at 2 p.m., MT, in its second conference match of the season.
