Udofia Signs with NBA Champion Golden State Warriors

DENVER - Former University of Denver men's basketball standout Chris Udofia (Irving, Texas) has signed an NBA contract with the 2015 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, the NBA franchise confirmed today.

Udofia finished his collegiate career first in program history in blocked shots (256) and tied for first in games played (124); fifth in points (1,501) and field goals made (551); seventh in assists (349), free throws made (334) and tied for seventh in steals (141).

The 6-foot-6 forward played last season in the Israeli National League with Elitzur Yavne averaging 10.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 assists per game.

He was a three-time first-team all-conference selection in three different leagues (Sun Belt, WAC and The Summit League) and a Defensive Player of the Year in two (Sun Belt and The Summit League).

Highly regarded by teammates at Denver, Udofia won the Floyd M. Theard, Jr. Award, as the Pioneers' most valuable player on three occasions and won the DU Defensive Player of the Year Award all four years (shared with Chase Hallam during his junior season).

In consideration with all of DU's 17 programs, Udofia was also named DU Male Co-Athlete of the Year and DU Male Athlete of the Year for 2011-12 and 2012-13, respectively.

In high school, the Irving, Texas native led Dallas Jesuit to a District 8-5A championship as a senior while helping the team earn a 27-6 record. Udofia earned a number of honors during his junior and senior years including District 8-5A Most Valuable Player (2009-10), Jesuit Team MVP (2009-10), First-Team All-Region (2009-10), First Team All-District (2008-09 and 2009-10) and District 8-5A Defensive MVP (2008-09).
