Nov. 11, 2015 DENVER - The University of Denver men's basketball program has signed Luke Neff (Arvada, Colo.) and Jake Krafka (Austin, Texas) to National Letter of Intent to join the Pioneers in 2016-17, head coach Joe Scott announced today.
"Both Luke and Jake are skilled players with a good sense for the game," Scott said. "In addition, they have high motors, are gym rats and are very competitive. These are the qualities that will allow them to positively impact our program and university."
A 5-foot 11 guard, Neff will finish his career at Arvada West H.S. before joining his older brother Thomas at DU. Neff averaged 11.9 points, 3.7 assists and 3.1 rebounds as a junior. The younger Neff is considered one of the best shooters in the state of Colorado on the prep level knocking down 44.4 percent (75-for-169) of his 3-point attempts during his junior campaign.
Neff led Arvada West to a 19-6 record as a junior and reached the second round of the Class 5A Tournament. Tim Neff, Luke and Thomas's father played collegiately at Princeton with Scott.
Krafka will join the Pioneers from Texas where he attends Hays H.S. and led them to a 21-9 record as a junior. The 6-foot-6 guard/forward was a First Team All-District player and received All-District Academic honors as a junior.
The Texas native led Hays to the 6A Boys State Basketball Playoffs. He averaged 15 points and eight rebounds a game as a junior. Krafka also ran cross country for a year in high school.
