Feb. 23, 2015 DENVER - The University of Denver's women's gymnastics team is ranked No. 18 in this week's GymInfo poll after posting a season-high 196.725 on Saturday night against BYU and Iowa in Hamilton Gymnasium.
This is the first week that rankings are determined by Regional Qualifying Score (RQS). The RQS is calculated based on the six highest regular season scores, three of which must be recorded at away meets. The highest score is dropped, and the remaining top five scores are averaged. DU's first team RQS is 195.800.
Denver is also ranked on two events: No. 7 on floor (49.260) and No. 17 on vault (49.145).
In the individual rankings, senior Nina McGee (Cincinnati, Ohio) returns to the top 25 in the all-around at No. 19 (39.165). She is also tied for No. 3 on floor (9.925).
DU continues to be ranked second in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference, behind first-place Boise State. Denver once again leads the conference on floor, is second on vault, and third on bars and beam. McGee is the top-ranked all-around and floor gymnast in the MRGC. Sophomore Rachel Fielitz (Walden, N.Y.) is third in the conference on vault and beam.
The Crimson and Gold travel to Southern Utah for an all-MRGC meet with Utah State on Friday, February 27. They return home for Senior Night and Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, March 7, against Ohio State and Air Force in Magness Arena.
