WOODLAND, Calif. --Â The University of Denver women's lacrosse team was recognized by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) as eight players were named as MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athletes for the 2015 season, the conference's Executive Director Al Beaird announced on Friday.
"I am very proud to have so many of our student athletes represented on the MPSF All-Academic Team," head coach Liza Kelly said. "Denver Lacrosse is all about striving to be your best in the classroom and on the playing field and these players represent the true definition of being a student-athlete."
The MPSF awards student-athletes who maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or better, are at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year at the institution before the season for which the award is being received, and have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.
Three seniors were among those honored. The trio of midfielder Kiki Boone (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.), defender Ali Proehl (San Diego, Calif.) and attacker Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, Md.).
Midfielder  Sarah Kasun (Bel Air, Md.) and attacker Rachael McKinnon (Brooklin, Ontario), represented the junior class, while sophomores Molly Danko (Baltimore, Md.), Sybil Pallace (Baltimore, Md.) and Layne Voorhees (Alexandria, Va.) made their first appearance.
In all, 97 student-athletes from the conference's ten teams were listed among the recipients of this honor. Stanford led the MPSF with 14
honorees.
The Pioneers finished the 2015 season with a 13-5 record, going 7-2 in MPSF play.
