June 29, 2015 DENVER - University of Denver women's golf head coach Lindsay Kuhle has announced the hiring of a new assistant coach, Daniela Lendl, a recent graduate from the University of Alabama.
"Daniela is so passionate and energetic about competing in the game of golf and is just what the Denver women's golf program looks for to join its family," Kuhle stated. "Our team is a family first and has shared interests and priorities among the coaching staff and team members."
Lendl arrives at DU with an impressive resume including being a member of the 2012 National Champion Alabama squad. She also played on the SEC championship team in 2013 and was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She graduated from Alabama summa cum laude this past May with a B.A. degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Consumer Science. She'll officially begin her duties with the Pioneers on August 24th.
"I am excited for the opportunity to join the Denver women's golf program this fall," said Lendl. "I look forward to working with Coach Kuhle to help DU become a National Championship contender in the near future."
Lendl, who is the daughter of tennis great Ivan Lendl, will be joining a Pioneers program that has won two consecutive Summit League Championships and has won 12 straight league titles, dating back to 2004 when DU competed in the Sun Belt Conference.
"Daniela had at Alabama what we look for in our student athletes here at DU," Kuhle said. "She comes to Denver with priorities set on achieving a high level of academic and athletic success, working hard to achieving both, all by doing it the right way with maximum focus and effort. I am so excited to have Daniela join our family with her wonderful experience at the IMG golf academy, winning an SEC and NCAA National championship, and her passion to continue to learn and grow as a golfer and now a teacher and coach. Welcome Daniela!"
