USAFA, Colo. - The University of Denver women's soccer team dropped its 2015 season opener 2-0 to Air Force on Friday night at Cadet Soccer Stadium. Friday's match was also both teams' Colorado Cup opener.

Denver and Air Force played to a scoreless first half in the season opener, with Air Force outshooting the Pioneers 8-2. Freshman Leah Swander (Grand Junction, Colo.) provided the Pioneers best opportunity in the opening 45 minutes, getting on the end of a Lauren Conley (Centennial, Colo.), but putting her header just over the bar. Junior goalkeeper Cassidy Rey (Arcadia, Calif.) made four saves in the first half.

Air Force got on the board in the 76th minute as a through ball from Alexandra Reveles was played to the feet of Brooke Rittmann, who slotted a 14-yard shot into the bottom left corner.

The Falcons doubled their advantage in the 84th minute as an offside shout went unflagged and Rittman completed her brace with a similar finish to her first from the other side of the field.

UP NEXT: DU will wrap up its opening weekend in the second match of a Colorado Cup triple-header at CU's Prentup Field on Sunday against Colorado State (Aug. 23/1:15 p.m.).
