DENVER -University of Denver men's soccer goalkeeper Dan Jackson (Chapel Hill, N.C.) has been named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Jackson kept his third clean sheet of the season in Denver's 1-0 win on Friday night at Saint Louis, and made two key saves in the Pioneers' 2-1 victory over Utah Valley on Sunday. The graduate student enters Summit League play this weekend with a 0.68 goals against average.
Denver moved up another five spots to No. 12 in the College Soccer News poll on Monday. Denver also moved from No. 21 to No. 16 this week in the Top Drawer Soccer poll that was also released on Monday.
DU's No. 12 ranking is the highest national ranking in program history, in any poll. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll and the Soccer America poll will both be released on Tuesday.
Denver is coming off a perfect weekend after a 1-0 win at [RV/16] Saint Louis on Friday and a 2-1 extra-time win over Utah Valley on Sunday night at CIBER Field.
UP NEXT:The Pioneers will begin Summit League play on Saturday afternoon when Denver heads to 2014 Summit League runner-up Western Illinois. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. MT.
