Denver Closes Out Texas Invitational

Final Results

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Denver men's and women's swimming programs combined for 12 NCAA B Standards from 12 different swimmers on the final day of the 2016 Texas Invitational Saturday at Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Freshman Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) grabbed another NCAA B Standard in his first event of the afternoon, finishing the grueling 1650 free in eighth with a time of 15:01.39. Teammate Warren Sexson (Mahtomedi, Minn.) also grabbed an NCAA Standard in the distance race with a time of 15:29.92.

Following the distance races, junior Morgan McCormick (Golden, Colo.) made Denver's first appearance in an A Final on the afternoon, touching seventh with an NCAA B time of 1:55.56.

Less than 24 hours after winning the 100 back in a very competitive event, junior Anton Loncar (Hillsboro, Ore.) earned his second event win of the Texas Invitational, this time winning the 200 back at 1:40.57. Junior Jared Smith (Boulder City, Nev.) also picked up a B time in the race, touching first in the C Final at 1:45.13. This morning, Loncar broke the school record in his prelim swim for the event with a time of 1:40.33.

Shifting gears back to freestyle, senior Johanna Roas (Munich, Germany) clocked in the 100 yard race at 48.99, good for a fifth place finish and an NCAA B Standard. Later in the meet, Roas' leadoff leg of the women's 400 free relay was timed at 48.72, a 100 yard free school record.

Redshirt-senior Kyle Robrock (Savage, Minn.) also earned a standard and a 12th place finish in the men's 100 free with a time of 43.74.

Senior Amanda Sanders (Superior, Colo.) reached the wall in third in the 200 breast with an NCAA B time of 2:10.73. Sophomore Bailey Andison (Smiths Falls, Ontario) finished third in the B Final, also earning herself a provisional time of 2:14.13.

Senior Tim Cottam (Sydney, Australia) finished seventh in the men's 200 breast to lead the Pioneers after a B time of 1:58.89.

Junior Heidi Bradley (Victoria, B.C.) made Denver's next A Final appearance, finishing eighth with an NCAA B Standard time of 1:59.56 to her name in the 200 butterfly. Redshirt-senior Andrew Torres (Arvada, Colo.) led Denver in the men's event with the final B time in the race, clocking in at 1:47.05, good for 12thon Saturday.

The Pioneers will have two weeks off before taking on FAU and William and Mary in Boca Raton, Fla., on December 17.
