Sept. 23, 2016 Every week after home games during the 2016 Denver men’s and women’s soccer season, DenverPioneers.com will check in with a former Pioneer soccer player:
Brian Kneuer - Class of 2004
Kneuer appeared in 62 career matches for the Crimson and Gold and finished with a degree in international business and a minor in real estate.
Where are you now/What are you doing?:
I’m still in Littleton Colorado, not too far from where I grew up. I’m staying busy with my two kids and wife, and working with Institutional Money Management firms helping them grow assets.
Last time you touched a soccer ball/Where?:
With a six year old boy and an almost four year old daughter, whom are both very active, I still kick around the ball quite often. I don’t really play too much men’s leagues as my schedule is busy playing and coaching my kids’ sports.
When’s the last time you were back on campus?
I get back to DU rather often, as I enjoy watching all DU athletics. I don’t really have a building or landmark that I miss. I think all the new buildings are amazing. I can tell you that I don’t miss the old weight room and I think the new varsity weight room is incredible.
Highlight/favorite soccer memory from your time at DU:
There were so many great memories from my time playing soccer at DU that I can’t pick just one. The best part was just being with my teammates on road trips and practices. To be with such a great fraternity of brothers is something that I will always cherish and miss.
Favorite non-soccer memory from your time at DU:
Intramural basketball and attending classes.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?:
Enjoying watching my kids playing their sports and doing their activities and working in some capacity with youth or collegiate sports.
Biggest adjustment to life after graduation?:
Having to get a real job, and teaching myself that I had to put in more than just 40 hours a week to achieve my business goals.
What advice do you have for the current Pioneers about life after college?: Treat life like soccer. The reason we played soccer is because we loved playing. Find a career that you love, just as much as you love playing soccer. If you do; work, life and everything else will come easy. Don’t settle and if you want something go get it.
