WOLCOTT, Colo. - The University of Denver women's golf team used a hot second-round performance on Tuesday. The Pioneers closed out the day in fourth place at the Golfweek Conference Challenge.

DU shot a 2-under-par 286 team score at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club - Fazio Course. The 286 set a new season low round for the team.

Defending champion San Diego State maintained its lead over the 18-team field, holding a commanding 13-shot lead.

"Awesome under-par round today," head coach Lindsay Kuhle said about her team's play on Tuesday. "They came out ready and played well from the start to the end. We played smart and aggressive and gave ourselves opportunities. We are motivated and excited to finish the tournament well tomorrow and see how many birdies we can make. Jess Carty was really in the zone and played aggressive today, which was so fun to watch."

The duo of Mariell Bruun and Camille Enright helped power the Denver attack today, which saw four of its golfers shoot at least 73 or lower. The Pioneer pair each tied for 12th with two-day score of 145.

Jessica Carty turned in the low round for DU, posting a 2-under-par 70, upping her into a tie for 20th with fellow teammate Lauren Whyte, who shot a 1-over 73 during her 18 holes of play.

Jessica Dreesbeimdieke ended her day with an 82.

The tournament comes to a close tomorrow with final-round play set to take place.
