National Rankings

DENVER -- The University of Denver women's gymnastics team, presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, continues to hold the No. 7 spot in the national rankings, released by Road to Nationals on Monday. DU improved its season average to 196.113 after its 196.350-win in the team's home opener on Saturday.

The team's No. 7 ranking is the highest the program has ever been ranked after two weeks of competition. It is also the second-highest overall ranking in program history--behind 2003 and 2010 when Denver was ranked No. 6 after one week of competition.

DU also holds top-13 rankings on all four events--including top-10 spots on beam and floor. Denver is tied for No. 7 on floor (49.050 average) and is No. 9 on beam (49.113). The team comes in tied for No. 12 on bars (49.013) and No. 13 on vault (49.938).

In both meets so far in 2017, Denver has only competed five student-athletes on vault and floor.

Individually, freshman Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) leads the Pioneers with a No. 10 ranking in the all-around (39.462). Karr is also tied for No. 11 on beam (9.887), tied for No. 19 on floor (9.875) and tied for No. 20 on vault (9.875).

Junior Nikole Addison (Fort Myers, Fla.) is Denver's highest-ranked gymnast on floor, coming in at No. 14 (9.888). She is also ranked No. 21 in the all-around (39.213).

Freshman Sam Ogden (Allen, Texas) enters the national rankings for the first time in her career, earning a tie for No. 22 on bars (9.863).

The Road to Nationals rankings will be released Monday mornings throughout the season and are determined by average score for the first few weeks. Beginning in mid-February, rankings will be calculated by Regional Qualifying Score (RQS).

Denver will compete on the road for its next four meets, beginning with a trip to No. 5 Utah with No. 15 Boise State and Illinois-Chicago on Friday, January 20.
