TULSA, Okla. - Junior Andre Shinyashiki (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored his fourth and fifth goals in the last three matches to send the University of Denver men's soccer team past Oral Roberts 2-0 on Saturday night at Case Soccer Complex.

"Overall, I'm really proud of my group," head coach Jamie Franks said. "They continue to get better and grow with confidence, experience and maturity. We have guys continuing to find their form, and they are resilient as a group and stick together. When they do that, we're a tough team to beat.

"We would have liked to put the game away earlier with all the chances that we were able to create, but that's a testament to the leadership of this team that they stuck to the task, and we were able to both get a second goal and keep a cleansheet. Our older guys are really starting to come together, and are leading by example with the foundation of the experience of playing in important late season matches on the road. I'm looking forward to getting back on the field with this group on Wednesday."

Shinyashiki opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with his team-high seventh goal of the campaign and the 21st of his career. Junior Kenny Akamatsu (Niigata, Japan) settled a bouncing ball in the box, and played it to his right. Shinyashiki took a touch by his defender and drove it hard and low into the back of the net. The game-winner was the eighth of his career, tying him with Collin Audley for second in Denver's Division I history.

The Denver (8-6-0, 3-0-0 Summit) junior doubled the lead in the 86th minute, scoring his fifth goal in the last three matches, all on the road. Redshirt-freshman Dylan Keeney (Littleton, Colo.) played the final ball to his right to Shinyashiki on a 3-on-2 counter attack for the Pioneers. Shinyashiki smashed his eight of the campaign past Oral Roberts (4-8-1, 1-2-0) goalkeeper Thibaut Giquel to close out the scoring. The assist for Keeney was his first collegiate point.

Denver outshot the home side 18-9 and had a 7-5 edge in corners. Redshirt-senior goalkeeper Nick Gardner (Marvin, N.C.) was called upon to make just one save in Denver's fifth cleansheet of the campaign.
