March 26, 2017 The DU men's tennis team wrapped up its appearance at the 2017 Texas Tamale Company Rice Invitational in Houston in winning fashion on Sunday, downing the UNLV Rebels by a score of 4-1 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. Denver is now 7-9 on the season after going 2-1 this weekend.
Denver got off to a good start by winning the doubles point thanks to impressive victories from Team Gasson/James & Team Lovera/Fernandez Del Valle. The Pioneers then won three of the four completed singles matches to take the team victory.
After going 2-0 in singles play on Saturday, senior Pio Yannik James earned another win on Sunday, downing UNLV's Jakob Amilon in a dramatic three-set match to end the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. Click HERE to view complete results from Sunday's match.
