June 19, 2017 The DU Hockey Family was saddened to learn of the recent passing of alumnus Jimmy Brown at the age of 81. Brown skated at Denver from 1957-1959, recording 116 points (53G-63A) in 63 games played. The native Albertan led the Pioneers in scoring in each of his seasons with the program.
In March of 1958, Brown scored a goal in DU's first-ever National Championship Game victory, a 6-2 win over North Dakota at Minneapolis' Williams Arena. He was named to the NCAA's All-Tournament Team that year.
Upon graduation, Brown briefly played professionally in the Eastern Hockey League prior to enjoying a long and successful career at IBM. He is survived by his wife Jean as well as several children and grandchildren. Click HERE to view Brown's obituary from the Vancouver Sun.
