The University of Denver men's tennis team defeated Valparaiso University, 4-3, on Saturday at the Match Point Tennis Complex in Griffith, Ind.
The victory moved Denver to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Summit League.
The Pioneers split the singles matches with the Crusaders. Eric Morris in the No. 2 spot, Sean Huynh in the No. 5 spot and Pedro Fernandez Del Valle in the No. 6 spot each earned victories on the singles courts, with Huynh picking up a decisive 6-0, 6-2 win against Garrett Gardner.
In doubles play, Denver's Matt Summers and Jesse Ruder-Hook combined to defeat Chad Kissell and Kweisi Kenyatte, 7-6 (6-1) and the pairing of Jorge Nunez and Mattia Ros defeated Brandon Ancona and Gabriel Carvajal, 6-3.
Denver's next match is set for February 10th against Air Force.
