Denver’s Men Open Dual Season at Air Force Thursday

Pioneers set to begin dual schedule with two meets in three days this week

DENVER – Following a long wait that included four women's dual meets at El Pomar Natatorium, the University of Denver men's swimming and diving program will begin its dual season on Thursday as the Pioneers make the short trip down I-25 to Air Force. First swim is set for 7 p.m. MT at Cadet Natatorium

LAST TIME OUT – DENVER RELAYS – 1st/3:
Denver's men ran away with the 2018 Denver Relays, defeating Wyoming and the Colorado School of Mines in the Pioneers season opener at the beginning of the month. In the first meet of his sophomore year Cameron Auchinachie (Binghamton, N.Y.) and junior Neil Wachtler (Waco, Texas) each won six events apiece to lead the Pioneers on Saturday. Sophomore Adriel Sanes (Rosharon, Texas) added five event wins for Denver. Auchinachie, Wachtler and Sanes were on the same winning relay in the 200 medley, the 4X25 freestyle, the 4X25 medley and the 4X100 freestyle. Auchinachie and Wachtler were also paired with freshman Finn Kennard-Campbell (Hamilton, New Zealand) to win the 3X100 backstroke.
 
During the layoff, the Pioneers held a Crimson and Gold intersquad in conjunction with the Denver women's dual against Colorado State.
 
UP NEXT:
Denver's men will return to its home pool on Saturday to co-host a meet against Wyoming with the women's program on Saturday at 12 p.m. MT.
