Pioneers Finish Up Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational

McCoy shoots a 2-under in final round
PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii – The University of Denver Golf team wrapped up the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on Sunday. The Pioneers shot an even-par 288 to finish up the tournament in 15th.
Par at the Makai Golf Club at Princeville was 72.
No. 11 Pepperdine won by two strokes, holding over Missouri to take home the team title.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Esteban Missura, Eric Hagen, Roy Kang, Cal McCoy and Carson Griggs.
"Today we counted rounds of 70, 72, 73 and 73 for a total of even par," Billinger said. "We had it 7-under at one point today so it was disappointing losing those shots coming in, but I told the guys we need to focus on getting better and use this winter break to work on the individual things each guy needs to work on.
"We will be back strong. I believe in these guys. They are great young men and this spring will be a different story."
Sophomores Jackson Solem and John Sand also competed, but as individuals.
McCoy and Hagen finished up the tournament tied for 53rd.
Missura fired a 72 for a second straight day, jumping into a tie for 66th.
Griggs wrapped up his three-day event with a 76 in his final 18 holes.
Kang closed out his day with a 72.
Solem had his best round of the tournament, firing a 72 to close out his fall season.
Sand shot a 4-over for the last day.
The Crimson and Gold will return in the spring.
