[RV]Denver Ends Five-Set Thriller with 6-0 Run to Extend Win Streak to 21

DENVER – In a five set thriller, the University of Denver women's volleyball team took down South Dakota to extend its lead in the Summit League standings to 2.5 games, defeating the Coyotes 25-15, 25-27, 27-25, 24-26,15-12.

Denver extended its win streak to 21 matches, and improved its historic season record to 23-1 (12-0 Summit League). 

The Pioneers trailed 12-9 in the fifth set before ending the match on a six-point run with Tina Boe at the service line. 

Senior Becca Latham led the brigade with 16 kills and 41 attack attempts, a season-high. The 6-foot-4 outside hitter upped her season total to 286, continuing to top the DU leaderboard. Lathan had two kills in the match-ending six-point run. 

Pioneer Performers:
Setter Ellie Anderson earned a career-high six kills against the Coyotes, in addition to tallying 33 assists and six digs.

Sophomore Macy Carrabine notched 31 digs, a career-high, to accumulate almost half of DU's 75 total digs.

Lydia Bartalo earned her fifth double-double on the year, tallying 11 kills and 13 digs against South Dakota.

Katarina Marinkovic (14), Bartalo (11), Tina Boe (10) and Taylor Joachim (10) all posted double digit kills, while Emma Willis totaled nine kills and a team-high hitting percentage of .333.

Five Set Matches:
Of Denver's 24 matches this season, six have gone to five sets. The Pioneers have been victorious in all but one, falling only to No. 19 Utah back on August 25.

Let's Talk Numbers:
The Pioneers totaled 77 kills, 75 digs, nine blocks, three aces and a .239 hitting percentage against South Dakota. They confined the Coyotes to only 52 kills and a .141 hitting percentage in five sets.

DU's 77 kills, 201 total attacks and 68 assists all mark as season-highs.

What's Next for DU:
Denver will finish up its 2018 regular season home schedule this week, hosting Oral Roberts on Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. The program will recognize its three seniors, Becca Latham, Emma Willis, and Olivia Novotny, on their senior night.
