Kang Plays Well as Pioneers Finish Paintbrush Invitational

Junior records first top-10 finish of collegiate career
PARKER – Working through very snowy conditions, the University of Denver golf team closed out the Paintbrush Invitational on Tuesday at the Colorado Golf Club. The Pioneers turned in a team score of 308 for the day, its lowest of the tournament.
Par for the 7,513-yard course was 72.
Colorado State worked through the elements to take home the team title at 6-over, eight strokes ahead of Oregon.
The Rams' Oscar Teiffel won individual medalist honors at 10-under for the 54-hole tournament.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Jun Ho Won, Esteban Missura, Carson Griggs, Cal McCoy and Jackson Solem.
Roy Kang, John Sand and Eric Hagen competed, but as individuals.
For Kang, the junior showed some serious resolve on the afternoon, fighting off winter elements to record his first top-10 collegiate finish with a total of 2-over for the two-day event, putting him tied for 10th.
Won tied for 30th with a final-round 77 on Tuesday.
Missura moved up 17 spots to tie for 44th a 4-over effort on the last day of play.
The freshman duo of McCoy and Griggs tied for 60th and 68th respectively.
Solem fired a 77 in his final round of the tournament take 72nd.
Denver returns to action for the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on Oct. 28.
