The University of Denver women's volleyball team will face Purdue Fort Wayne in the first semifinal match of the 2018 Summit League Tournament. The match will be held at 3 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 17.
Denver enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed, having gone 26-1 overall and a perfect 15-0 in league matches, the first team to go undefeated in league play since North Dakota State went 18-0 in 2009. After clinching their fifth-consecutive Summit League Regular Season title back on Nov. 2, the Pioneers look to win their fifth-straight tournament title as well.
Six of Denver's finest earned league awards at the annual tournament banquet on Thursday, Nov. 5, highlighted by three named to the All-League Honorable Mention team (Ellie Anderson
, Emma Willis
and Tina Boe
), and three to the All-League team (Becca Latham
, Lydia Bartalo
and Katarina Marinkovic
). Head coach Tom Hogan
was also named the Summit League Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
Purdue Fort Wayne will face the Crimson and Gold in its second match of the weekend, having defeated North Dakota in three sets on Friday, Nov. 16. With the win, the Mastodons improved their record to 18-13 overall, going 9-8 against league opponents. Three student-athletes from PFW also earned league honors on Thursday, Nicole Rightnowar and Sydney Boerst were named All-League team and Madelyn Wurster was named All-Freshman team.
The Crimson and Gold have seen Purdue Fort Wayne twice this season, first at home on Oct. 12 and then away on Nov. 11. In both contests the Pioneers swept the Mastodons, earning their sixth and 15th league wins of the season.

TOGETHER 4 COLORADO TOY DRIVE:
The Pioneers have partnered with CBS4 for the Together 4 Colorado Toy Drive to support the Denver community during the holiday season. Beginning Nov. 17, there will be toy drops at every Denver Athletics and Newman Center event thru Dec. 19. Additionally, there will be a Community Shop 'n Drop on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., hosted by the Denver Cheerleading squad at the circle drive on the north side of the Ritchie Center.
