DENVER - Not even a week after the University of Denver ski team earned its 24th NCAA Championship, the program earned three RMISA postseason awards on Friday.
The list of accolades includes Female Alpine Athlete of the Year, Nordic Coach of the Year and Alpine Coach of the Year.
After sweeping the women's NCAA Alpine titles, Amelia Smart scored Female Alpine Athlete of the Year. The Vancouver, B.C., native skied for three first-place finishes including the national championships and the giant slalom at the RMISA Championships. Smart, a freshman also had five podium finishes in 2018.
Meanwhile, coaches Dave Stewart and Tyler Shepherd won the Nordic and Alpine Coach of the Year awards, respectively.
Stewart, who is his 11th season with the Pioneers, has been part of six NCAA Championships and has earned five RMISA Nordic Coach of the Year accolades. DU's Nordic skiers this season combined for nine All-America honors, 22 podium finishes and six wins. Senior Dag Frode Trolleboe led the squad with three wins and nine podiums this season.
Shepherd entered his sixth season at Denver in 2018 and has helped the Pioneers score three national titles. It is the first time in his career that Shepherd has earned the commendation. The Alpine team earned 25 podiums, won eight races and placed seven skiers on the All-American list.

Student-Athlete Alumni Giving Challenge:
In 2017-18, the University of Denver is holding an alumni giving challenge in an effort to increase student-athlete alumni participation in the Denver Athletics Annual Fund.
