STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Denver ski team scored three more All-Americans and improved to second-place in the NCAA Championships on Thursday.

After the Nordic Classical, DU added 138 points, for a total of 267 points. The Pioneers sit nine points behind Colorado (276) and 32 points ahead of third-place Utah (235).

On the second day, DU added three more All-America honors thanks to Jasmi Joensuu, Dag Frode Trolleboe and Eivind Kvaale. The trio all earned first-team accolades, as Trolleboe (27:51.8) and Kvaale (28:16) took third and fourth respectively in the men's 10-km. Meanwhile, Joensuu's time of 15:41.6, placed the Kuortane, Finland native in fifth in the 5-km.

It is the third year in a row that Trolleboe's has earned the All-American title, but it is the first time for both Kvaale and Joensuu.

Linn Eriksen placed 12th in the women's 5-km. The senior raced for a time of 16:08.8 and scored 19 total points.

Two spots behind Eriksen came Taeler McCrerey. The Pioneer chalked a time of 16:18.2.

Completing the day for Denver was Steamboat native Lars Hannah who placed 23rd, as the junior earned a time of 29:36.2.

The Alpine team will finish out its portion of the NCAA Championship tomorrow, when they compete in the special night Slalom starting at 6:45 p.m. on Howelsen Hill.

DU fans making the trip up to Steamboat Springs this weekend to cheer on the Pioneers are invited to a "tailgate" party both Friday night and Saturday morning. The tailgate will start at 5 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Snacks and Hot Chocolate will be provided, just look for the Denver tents.
