The Denver Pioneers (17-4, 4-0) ride a 12-match winning streak into the Summit League Championships set to begin on April 27-28 at the Gates Tennis Center in Denver, Colo.
"We are thrilled to be hosting the Summit League Championships and are ready to play the first round against Western Illinois on Friday morning in front of our home crowd," Denver coach Christian Thompson said. "Every conference team that is present this week has earned their way into the championships and there will be exciting matches throughout the weekend."
"Our girls have put in a lot of work over the past few months to prepare for the championships," Thompson said. "We always stress a love of competition to the team this time of year because the hard work and preparation is there for them. We always hope to bring back a trophy to Denver."
Denver has won four-consecutive Summit League titles, earning four-straight berths in the NCAA tournament. The Pioneers are led by Julia O'Loughlin, Bianca Mok and Hada Chang who have each made significant contributions on the singles and doubles courts. O'Loughlin is ranked No. 57 in singles and No. 27 in doubles with Mok on the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Women's Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
In her senior season, O'Loughlin has a 13-4 (3-0 Summit League) singles record and an 8-3 (1-0) doubles record. The Highland Beach, Fla. native has played 15 singles matches at No. 1 and every doubles match at No. 1. Playing primarily on the No. 2 court, Mok has a compiled a 15-2 (3-0) singles mark, as well as a 14-3 (2-0) doubles record. Freshman Hada Chang enters the postseason on a 14-match winning streak with a 16-2 (3-0) singles record, playing primarily at No. 2. In doubles play, Chang is 13-4 (3-0) with partner Anna Riedmiller.
Denver will open the Summit League Championships on Friday, April 27 at 9 a.m. against Western Illinois. All matches will be held at the Gates Tennis Center. In the event of inclement weather, the matches will be moved indoors to the Meadow Creek Tennis Club.
