Pioneer Movement| IWLCA Release
DENVER- The Denver Pioneers (8-4, 3-2 BIG EAST) moved down three spots in this week's IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll released Monday, after losing a close contest to Georgetown (8-7) and defeating Cincinnati (17-11) to close out the week.
DU received 64 points in the poll.
Six teams that Denver has played or will play were listed as among the top 25 teams in the poll.
Stony Brook (8-0) maintained the top spot this week for the sixth week in a row, earning 21 first-place votes and 619 points (Maryland received one first-place vote and Boston College received three first-place votes). BIG EAST opponent Florida (Pioneers play the Gators at home on April 21) moved up one spot in the rankings to sixth with a 10-3 (5-0 BIG EAST) record, tallying 484 points. Stanford (11-3), who the Pioneers defeated in week one (12-9), also moved up one spot to 12th, earning 340 points. Virginia Tech jumped three spots into 14th, sitting at 11-4 and gaining 303 points. Colorado improved two spots in this week's rankings to 16th. Georgetown (8-4, 4-1 BIG EAST) moved into the rankings at No. 23 after being just outside the week prior after defeating Denver.
Denver was receiving votes in the latest Inside Lacrosse Cascade Media Poll.
The Pioneers have just one game this week, a Friday night game against the Villanova Wildcats set to begin at 7 p.m. Admission to the game is free.
