Pioneer Movement| IWLCA Release
DENVER-- In the final IWLCA Coaches Poll of the 2017-18 season released on Tuesday afternoon, the Denver Pioneers ranked 17th while receiving 228 points.
The Pioneers moved up six spots from the last poll that was released prior to the NCAA Tournament, and received 135 more votes in the final poll. Denver had the largest jump of any team in the poll with its six-spot improvement.
DU's No. 17 ranking was the highest ranking that the Pioneers achieved in the IWLCA poll this season, and was the first time since 2014 that the Crimson and Gold finished the season ranked, when they finished ranked 19th. The No. 17 ranking is also the second-highest end of season ranking achieved by Denver, second only to 2013 when the Pioneers finished 16th.
Denver finished the season with a 13-7 record, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to the overall No. 1 seed Maryland, who finished the season ranked third after falling in the semifinals to Boston College.
