DENVER – The University of Denver men's lacrosse program has named attackman Austin French (Danville, Calif.), offensive midfielder Colton Jackson (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), defensive midfielder Danny Logan (Upper Arlington, Ohio) and close defender Dylan Johnson (Englewood, Colo.) captains for the 2019 roster, head coach Bill Tierney announced on Wednesday.

"The continuity of having great leaders over the last nine years has consistently allowed our program to compete for conference and national titles," Tierney said. "Being elected as captains by their peers demonstrates that these four young men have all the qualities it takes to drive us to another championship season. I have all the confidence in the world that Austin, Dylan, Danny, and Colton will help establish a culture on and off the field that will make the University of Denver very proud. They have all had a major impact on our program and will look to do even more as our 2018-19 season rolls around. Our staff can't wait to see what this amazing group can do."

French played and started all 17 games as Denver's X-attackman a year ago, leading the team in assists with 31, which was good for sixth in Denver's single-season Division I history. The Danville, Calif., native also finished second on the team in points with 60 and goals with 29. French netted six hat tricks in 2018, including a career-high five goals in Denver's BIG EAST Semifinal win over Marquette. A year after finishing first in the country in shooting percentage, French took eighth in that category in 2018, shooting at a 50.9% clip.

Jackson finished third on the team in goals, assists and points with 22, 12 and 34, respectively, including five man-up tallies for the Pioneers out of the midfield last season. The Colorado product tied a career-high with four goals on two occasions in 2018, including in Denver's NCAA Quarterfinal loss to No. 2 Albany. Jackson tied his career high in points with four, three times with performances at No. 1 Duke, at Furman and against Albany. Jackson's 2018 totals gave the Pioneer junior a career high in assists (12) and points (34).

Logan has been a lock-down short stick defensive mid for the Pioneers the past two seasons, seeing action in all 34 games of his collegiate career. The Denver junior has been a threat on the wings and in transition as well, tallying 16 points in his first two years, including 10 goals, while also picking up 71 ground balls and forcing 11 turnovers. In each of his first two seasons, Logan has also spent time on Denver's offensive midfield.

An Honorable Mention All-America selection in 2018, Johnson played and started in all 17 games in the third-best scoring defense in the country in 2018. The Evergreen, Colo., native topped his career high in ground balls with 52 and had more caused turnovers (17) than he forced in his first two seasons combined. Johnson caused a career-high three takeaways in Denver's win over fellow 2017 Championship Weekend participant Ohio State at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in March.
