LAKEWOOD, Colo. – University of Denver men's lacrosse midfielders
Nate Marano (Tustin, Calif.)
Connor Donahue (Groton, Mass.) and
Trevor Baptiste (Denville, N.J.) combined for seven goals and 12 points in the Fighting Bison's 14-13 overtime win to clinch a two-game sweep in the Colorado Collegiate Box Lacrosse League's Battle for the Morrow Cup on Monday night at Foothills Fieldhouse.
Former Pioneer defensive midfielder and Fighting Bison coach
Terry Ellis (Denver '14) also got his hands on the Morrow Cup Monday, capturing the championship after leading the Bison to a runner-up finish in the inaugural season of the league a year ago.
Marano finished with 21 goals in the four-game playoff run after an eight point night on four goals and four assists in the final game of the CCBLL campaign. Donahue chipped in two goals and a helper and Baptiste scored his second goal in as many games in the league this season, having missed a majority of the 2018 slate due to MLL and international duty.
In game one of the Ohio Cup on Monday, rising sophomore
Jack Hannah (Milford, Ohio) netted his first sock trick of the OCBLL Playoffs to lead the Rivermen to a 16-12 victory over the Walleye. Game two of that series will be played Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ET at Resolute Athletic Complex.
