DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer program has added former Clemson defender
Alex Nillen (Lakewood, Colo.) to its 2018 roster, head coach
Jeff Hooker announced on Thursday. Nillen, a graduate of Wheat Ridge H.S. will be entering her sophomore season with the Pioneers this fall.
A psychology major, Nillen made her first four collegiate appearances at Clemson in 2017. Prior to her collegiate days, Nillen was invited to participate in the US ID2 National Camp in 2012. In her high school career, Nillen earned First Team All-Colorado honors in 2014, 2015 and 2017, including being named the 4A Player of the Year in 2017. Nillen played her club soccer for Real Colorado.
Earlier this offseason, Hooker
added 10 freshmen in February before welcoming
Anna Schrader to the program in April and
Miami (Ohio) transfer Haley Paez in June, bringing the total of newcomers to 13 with the addition of Nillen.
2017 (Clemson):
Made four appearances in the Tigers defense.
Before Clemson:
Participated in the US ID2 National Camp in 2012…First Team All-Colorado selection in 2014, 2015 and 2017…4A Colorado Player of the Year in 2017…Played her club soccer for Real Colorado.
Personal:
Born on July 19, 1998 in Lakewood, Colo....Daughter of John and Anna...Has one sibling, Daniella…Chose DU because of the beautiful campus, the educational opportunities and people that welcomed her to campus right away with open arms…Studying psychology.
