Box Score DENVER— The University of Denver women's volleyball team swept Maryland Eastern Shore in its second match of the Denver Invitational on Saturday morning in Hamilton Gymnasium. The Pioneers took down the Hawks by scores of 25-12, 25-22, and 25-17.
This marks Denver's fifth-consecutive sweep, remaining a perfect 8-0 at home in Hamilton Gymnasium.
Willis and Bartalo Bring the Heat:
Senior
Emma Willis shined for the Pioneers, tallying 11 kills in 16 attempts, .562 hitting percentage, and two blocks against Eastern Shore. This brings her season total to 58 kills and 45 blocks earned in 42 sets.
Sophomore
Lydia Bartalo leads the team in service aces, notching four against the Hawks, bringing her season total to 28. Entering the tournament Bartalo was ranked 9th in the NCAA in total aces.

Other notable student-athletes against the Hawks were
Becca Latham who earned 11 kills,
Tine Boe who notched five kills, three aces and three digs, and
Ellie Anderson who led with 22 assists.
Denver Tallies Season-High in Service Aces:
The Pioneers earned 14 aces against Maryland Eastern Shore, a new season high. Bartalo led with four, followed by Boe (3),
Katarina Marinkovic (2),
Andrea Eddy (2),
Michelle Feliciano (2) and Anderson (1). The previous season high was earned on Aug. 24 in the season opener against Saint Mary's (9).
Team Totals:
Denver tallied 45 kills, 41 assists, 37 digs, 14 aces, and two blocks against Maryland Eastern Shore.
This season the Crimson and Gold have totaled 570 kills in 1,309 attempts, a .285 hitting percentage, 528 assists, 80 aces, 549 digs, and 86.5 blocks.
What's Next for the Pioneers:
DU will continue its efforts in the final match of the Denver Invitational on Saturday evening, facing Samford at 7 p.m. MT. Next week on Friday, Sept. 21, the Pioneers will begin Summit League play against Oral Roberts in Oklahoma.
