Pioneers 7th after Day One of Ram Masters Invitational

Ft. Collins, Colo. – The University of Denver men's golf team opened up the new season on Monday at the Fort Collins Country Club, placing seventh through two rounds of the Ram Masters Invitational. The Pioneers closed out the day with a team score of 13-over.
Par for the 7,218-yard course was 70.
Host Colorado State, winners of the last four years of the tournament, sit atop the leaderboard at 13-under, 11 strokes ahead of Illinois State in the 17-team field.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Esteban Missura, Jackson Solem, Carson Griggs, Jun Ho Won and Cal McCoy.
McCoy made an impressive debut for the Crimson and Gold, finishing tied for 19th with a 36-hole total of 142 (2-over)
Won really got it going near the end of the day, going 4-under in his final six holes to finish at 3-over on the afternoon, good for a tie for 27th.
Freshmen Missura and Griggs each tied for 42nd with two-round totals of 5-over.
Solem sits tied for 55th at 7-over after day one of the tournament.
Eric Hagen, John Sand and Roy Kang also competed, but as individuals.
Final-round action is set for Tuesday with a shotgun start.
