The Denver Pioneers men's tennis team ranked second in the 2019 Summit League preseason poll of league head coaches with 31 points and one first-place vote. In addition to receiving the team honor, the Pioneers placed two student-athletes on the preseason athletes to watch list: sophomores
Mattia Ros and
James Davis.
Denver has clinched the Summit League regular-season and tournament titles in four of its five seasons in the league. Last season, the Pioneers finished 11-10 (5-2).
Ros finished the 2018 season with an 11-9 (4-3) singles mark and 11-8 record at No. 1. In doubles play, the 2018 All-Summit League honoree was 7-11 (4-2) in his matches. Davis prepares for his first season with the Pioneers after notching a 3-1 singles record with Oklahoma last season. Â
