DENVER – The University of Denver men's swimming and diving team defeated Colorado Mesa 210-88 to open its dual schedule on Saturday evening at El Pomar Natatorium.
2019 men's NCAA qualifier
Cameron Auchinachie (Binghamton, N.Y.) and junior
Adriel Sanes (Rosharon, Texas) earned two individual wins and were a part of both of Denver's relay victories on Saturday. Distance specialist
Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) led the Pioneers with three individual event victories, reaching the wall first in the 1000 free, 200 fly and 500 free.
In all, eight different Pioneers earned individual event wins with
Neil Wachtler (Waco, Texas),
Hugo Sykes (Weston, Conn.),
Patrick Groters (Santa Cruz, Aruba),
Graham Walker (Nairobi, Kenya) and
David Mihalic (Ljubljana, Slovenia) earning top points in their events to lead Denver to a clean sweep of the 14 swimming races.
