SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior
Lauren Loven has been named to the 2019-20 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award preseason watch list, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
Loven is one of 20 candidates nominated for the award. The award, in its third season, is named after Ann Meyers Drsydale, the first male or female athlete named to the All-America team in four straight college seasons and is awarded to the nation's top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.
The Scottsdale, Arizona native is coming off a record-setting year where she set a new school and Summit League record with 111 made threes. The senior guard shot 44.4 percent from behind the arc to lead the Summit League, and tie fourth in program history and 15
th in league history for a single season.
Loven sits atop the Denver record books with 249 career three-pointers made, also good for eighth in Summit League history. Last season, Loven finished top-20 in the nation in three-point field goal percent (8
th; 44.4), three-point field goals per game (6
th; 3.47), and three-point field goals made (7
th; 111).
The Pioneers hit the floor Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (MT) for an exhibition contest against Fort Lewis College in Hamilton Gymnasium.
