DURHAM, N.C. – The University of Denver men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result to Duke on Tuesday night at Koskinen Stadium.
"I think in the span of four days, we've seen our best self and our worst self as a team," head coach Jamie Franks said. "The difference is the mentality. When we are collective, resilient and play with a sense of urgency, we are a tough team to beat. When adversity hits, we need to make sure that we stay together. We made one mistake in the game, they capitalized on it and won 1-0. This is a tough place to play and a tough opponent, but we need to get back home and get better from it. I'm looking forward to playing back at home on Saturday and closing out the conference campaign the following week."
The Blue Devils took the lead in the 20
th minute as a Denver defensive clearance deflected off a Duke attacking player and fell to the feet of Colby Agu, who took a touch and buried his third goal of the season.
Duke outshot Denver 6-2 in the opening 45 minutes, and 10-2 in the match, holding the Pioneers without a shot on goal.
Redshirt-junior
Will Palmquist (Denver, Colo.) made four saves in the non-league road finale.
