Pios Fall Just Short at Nebraska

Box Score LINCOLN, NEB. – The University of Denver men's tennis team fell 4-3 at Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson and Gold secured the doubles point to begin the day but the Cornhuskers went on to win four singles matches to complete the comeback.

DU began the afternoon by picking up the team point in doubles competition. Matt Summers/James Davis defeated Toby Boyer/Chris Dean 6-1 in the No. 1 position while Daniel Krulig/Eric Morris beat Victor Moreno Lozano/William Gleason 6-4 in the No. 3 position.

After Nebraska won the first two singles matches, Denver responded with two wins from Ignatius Castelino and Summers. Castelino defeated Dean 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 position and Summers got past Micah Klousia 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2 position. Despite trailing 3-2, Nebraska would go on to win the remaining two singles matches to ensure the victory.

Next up: The Pioneers return to Denver Tennis Park on February 17th to host Valparaiso University at 10 am MT.
