HOUSTON, TEXAS: The No. 45 University of Denver women's tennis team fell 4-3 to No. 47 Rice on Friday afternoon. The loss is DU's second straight and drops the Pioneers to 8-3 overall and 0-2 in true road matches.

Despite the loss, the Pioneers picked up three singles victories on the afternoon. Anna Riedmiller defeated Anna Bowtell 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3, Tatum Burger defeated Priya Niezgoda 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 and Camille Verden-Anderson beat Linda Huang 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5.

DU's only losses of the season have come to ranked opponents, also falling to No. 7 Pepperdine and No. 30 UCF earlier this season. The Pios are set to return to the court tomorrow when they face off against Minnesota at 10 am MT.
