DENVER – Beginning in 2019, the road to the NCAA Women's Gymnastics National Championships will follow a new format, resulting in a new three-day structure for NCAA Regionals and a smaller field at NCAA Nationals.
NCAA REGIONALS
Starting this year, NCAA Regionals features three days of competition at four locations. The NCAA Regional field still consists of 36 teams with nine teams assigned to each of the four sites.
Day 1 – First Round: The two lowest-ranked teams at each of the four locations compete in a dual meet for a spot in the Second Round meets. The winner advances to Day 2 (Second Round).
In the Corvallis Regional that DU was selected to for 2019, the two teams competing in the First Round on Thursday, April 4, will be Iowa and Arizona.
Day 2 – Second Round: Eight teams will compete in two four-team meets. The top two finishing teams in each of those meets will advance to Day 3 (Regional Final).
Session I at the Corvallis Regional on Friday, April 5, will feature:
Denver
Boise State
Washington
Southern Utah
The top two teams from this meet advance to Day 3.
Session II at the Corvallis Regional on Friday, April 5, will feature:
Florida
Oregon State
Stanford
The winner of the Iowa/Arizona first-round meet
The top two teams from this meet advance to Day 3.
Day 3 – Regional Final: The top two finishing teams from each of the Second Round meets will compete in the Regional Final. The teams that finish in the top two in the Regional Final will then advance to the NCAA National Championships.
The Regional Final will feature:

There were still be two national semifinal meets, but only four teams will compete in each semifinal now (as opposed to the six teams in each semifinal previously). The top two finishing teams in each semifinal will advance to the NCAA National Championship meet, which will now feature only four teams as well.
This year, the NCAA Semifinals will be held on Friday, April 19, with the national championship awarded on Saturday, April 20.
