GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The No. 43 University of Denver women's tennis team blew past North Dakota 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win is DU's fifth-straight and moves the Pioneers to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the Summit League. Denver has won its first three Summit League matches 7-0 over Oral Roberts, Omaha and now North Dakota.
The Pioneers opened the day sweeping double competition to secure the team point.
Bianca Mok/Camille Verden-Anderson downed Kaede Amano/Masha Lobanova 6-2 at No. 1 and
Tatum Burger/Hada Chang beat Preethi Kasilingam/Zahra Finnigan 6-2 at No. 2. With the team point in hand,
Anna Riedmiller/Toni Nelson knocked off Mary Wessman/Isa Sullivan 6-1 at No. 3.
Denver's domination continued in singles play, as the Pios won five of the six matches in straight-sets. Chang eased past Lobanova 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 position while Verden-Anderson won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
Arisha Ladhani clinched the match for DU, downing Finnigan 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. With the match in hand, No. 92 Mok won 6-1, 7-5 over Sullivan in the No. 1 position, Burger got past Kasilingam 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4 and Riedmiller completed the sweep, winning 3-6, 7-5, 10-3 at No. 2.
Up Next: The Pioneers return to the court on Tuesday when they host Utah at 4:30 pm MT at the Denver Tennis Park.
