GALESBURG, ILL. – The No. 43 University of Denver women's tennis team blanked Western Illinois 7-0 on Saturday morning. The win improves the Pios to 14-5 overall and 4-0 in the Summit League.
Denver's perfect day began in doubles where the Pios would win the first two matches to take an early lead. Anna Riedmiller/Camille Verden-Anderson defeated Mia Melnizki/Anouk Maajong 6-1 at No. 1 while Toni Nelson/Bianca Mok beat Megan Tagaloa/Camryn Rossa 6-4 at No. 2.
DU remained dominant in singles, dropping just 11 sets in total. Riemiller knocked off Ana Bjelica 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2, Tatum Burger downed Mary Bjelica 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 and No. 104 Mok locked up the win with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 1. With the match in hand, Arisha Ladhani, Verden-Anderson and Hada Chang all won to complete the sweep. Ladhani won 6-1, 6-2 over Maajong at No. 4, Verden-Anderson beat Tagaloa 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 while Chang ended the day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rossa at No. 6.
Up next: The Pios will return to the court on Wednesday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m MT when they host Wyoming at Denver Tennis Park.
