Pioneers Add Foster for 2019-20

Tacoma, Wash. native to join team in the fall

DENVER – University of Denver women's basketball head coach Jim Turgeon announced the signing of incoming junior Alexius Foster on Monday. The Tacoma, Wash. native has signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to continue her academic and athletic career with the Pioneers.

Foster joins DU by way of Dawson Community College in Montana, where she averaged 19.3 points per game last year as a sophomore. The 5-foot-7 guard was a threat to score at all three levels, shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.6 percent from the foul line. She notched 17 games with at least 20 points, including pouring in a season-high 36 at Williston State College on Feb. 14.

"We are extremely excited about adding Alexius to our family," Turgeon said. "She just fits in so many ways on and off the court. She brings experience and toughness to our squad that is going to pay huge dividends this upcoming season and in the Summit League. We cannot wait to get her on campus with us this summer."

The incoming Pioneer finished last season 10th in the nation in overall points scored with 617. She was also the 2018 conference MVP and a two-time NJCAA All-American. In her two seasons at Dawson, Foster scored 1,191 career points.

The high-scoring guard was also a force on the glass, ripping down 4.6 boards on a nightly basis, highlighted by an 11-rebound effort at Williston State College, giving her the only double-double of her season.

Foster was also being recruited by Kennesaw, Fullerton State, Western Carolina and Idaho State.

Denver returns to the hardwood in the fall.
