DENVER - Nicole Fowler has been named Denver Pioneers' Assistant Sports Performance Coach responsible for overseeing the development of men's and women's golf, men's & women's swimming & diving and gymnastics, Director of Sports Performance Matt Shaw announced on Tuesday.

"We are incredibly excited to announce this hiring," Shaw said. "Over the last two years, Nicole has done a tremendous job as a Sports Performance Fellow. Her commitment, character, experience and leadership make her a tremendous fit within our staff."

Last season, Fowler oversaw men's and women's golf, gymnastics and assisted with men's and women's swimming & diving. Under Fowler's direction, the men's and women's golf teams clinched Summit League titles to receive bids in the NCAA Tournament, gymnastics advanced to the NCAA Four on the Floor for the first time in program history and the men's swimming and diving team won the conference title and placed at Nationals for the third-straight year.

Fowler began her fellowship at Denver in 2017 after serving one year as a strength & conditioning graduate fellow at Merrimack College where she received her Master's of Science in Exercise and Sport Science. The Maynard, Massachusetts native graduated from Springfield College in 2016 with a Bachelor's of Science in Applied Exercise Science.

"I am extremely excited to be joining the DU Sports Performance Staff as a full-time Assistant Sports Performance Coach," Fowler said. "The University of Denver community is extremely special and I am lucky to have been a part of a culture of excellence over the past two years. I'd like to thank Karlton Creech, Ron Grahame, Matt Shaw, and Julie Campbell for their diligent efforts towards building and creating this position. I look forward to contributing to the growth and development of our student-athletes as part of Pioneer Health and Performance."
