Pioneers Conclude Second Day of SMU Invitational

McCoy fires 1-under on day two
DALLAS – The University of Denver men's golf team was led by sophomore Cal McCoy on the second day of the SMU Invitational on Monday at the par-71, 7,486 yard Trinity Forest Golf Club.
The Pioneers tied for 14th with Virginia after 36-holes of play with a team score of 578 (10-over). Denver posted a 3-over par (287) performance in the second round.
Third-ranked Arizona State and host SMU remain tied for first place with a two-round total of 547 (21-under), followed by Houston, UC Davis, and Little Rock and Rice in the top five.
McCoy carded two birdies on the front nine and finished even par on the back nine in round two. The Highlands Ranch native finished 1-under par on the day to tie 34th with a 36-hole score of 143 (1-over).
Three Denver golfers – Esteban Missura, Carson Griggs, and Jun Ho Won – are tied for 54th heading into the final round tomorrow with a two-round total of 145 (3-over).
Missura recorded a 73 (2-over), while Griggs and Ho Won finished with a 1-over par (72) on the second day.
Senior Eric Hagen is tied for 87th with a 36-hole total of 154 (12-over).
The final round of the SMU Invitational tees off at 7 a.m. (MT) tomorrow.
