DENVER - The Denver Pioneers women's tennis team (2-0, 0-0) earned its second victory of the spring season with a 6-1 win against Gonzaga on Sunday at the Denver Tennis Park.
Denver opened the day with wins on two of three doubles courts, securing the team point and taking a 1-0 lead in the match. Taylor Melville/Hada Chang delivered a 6-1 victory at No. 1, while Toni Nelson/Tatum Burger won 6-4 at No. 3. Â
The Pioneers continued their success at singles where they swept the first three matches to seal the win. Chang won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Britt Pursell won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 and Burger won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5. Taylor Melville and Anna Riedmiller rounded out Denver's singles wins at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.Â
Denver looks ahead to a trip to Palo Alto, Calif. for the ITA Kick Off from Jan. 24-26.Â
